Many years ago the theme of a popular TV show was "JUST THE FACTS". Here are some interesting facts to digest:

During the Reagan years Pres. Reagan had a couple of surrogates, Rumsfeld and Cheney. Among their many duties was liaison between the U.S. and Saddam and Osamma. Rumsfeld and Cheney were responsible for providing weapons to Saddam. Saddam was helping the U.S. overthrow the Iranian Gov't. (That has worked out really well) in the meantime Colonel North was using Iran in the Iran/Contra scandal.

If you doubt my comments here is a direct quote from Pres. Bill Clinton made to Larry King on 20 Sept 2006: ""And I think they thought it might clean their own skirts a little, since most of what Saddam did that was really terrible he did it when he had the full support of the Republican administration of the '80s, of which Dick Cheney was a part. ""

Moving ahead a few years George Bush 1 appointed Cheney to be Sec'y of Defense. When Saddam invaded Kuwait Bush 1 decided to use the U.S. military plus a coalition of forces to remove Saddam from Kuwait. Cheney, because Saddam had earlier embarrassed him, wanted the U.S. forces to chase Saddam all the way to Baghdad and eliminate him. Bush 1 put his foot down making it clear to Cheney the mission was to remove Saddam from Kuwait, nothing more nothing less. According to all published reports Cheney was livid.

Moving ahead a few mores years George Bush 2 became President and Cheney became his Vice-President. There have been numerous reports, none of them denied, Cheney was pre-occupied from the first day with Iraq. Cheney has been planning this day for years. All he needed was an excuse to convince Bush 2 to go into Iraq and get Saddam. We all know on 9/11 he got his excuse. What a wonderful stroke of luck for Cheney. As a direct result of the war Cheney will be a multi-millionaire many times over. You see he didn't divest himself of his Haliburton stock when he became Vice-President he put the stock in a (sort-of)trust. As a direct result of the war Cheney got Saddam. All in all Cheney has had a pretty good last 5 years.

As I said these are all undisputed facts which can easily be found. You draw your own conclusions.

PUTTING 2 + 2 TOGETHER AND GETTING 4

A few days ago the Gov't de-classified and released into the public domain volumes and volumes of documents from the Regan administration. Amoung those documents it was revealed that Regan never gave any weapons to Saddam. It was all a charade to make Saddam's neighbors, Iran, think he had 'WMD' and that they better not invade him. Dick Cheney, who was part of Regan's inner circle, was well aware of, and actively participated, in the charade.

Dick Cheney knew Saddam had no weapons yet was the leading cheerleader for Bush's(dubya's) war based wholly & solely on the fact that Saddam had WMD. I've lost count of the number of times Cheney was on TV trying to scare us into thinking Saddam had WMD. Cheney lied to congress. Cheney lied in every step of the process leading up to and after the war started. Cheney had one goal, and one goal only, after Bush Sr. stopped him from getting Saddam during the Gulf war. Cheney's goal was to get Saddam, and he did.

A personal note: If lying about getting oral sex was grounds for impeachment then lying about reasons for getting 3,600 Brave American Soldiers  killed I think is grounds for death by a Military Firing Squad.......

With Democrats returning to the White House in January 1993, Cheney left the Department of Defense and joined the American Enterprise Institute. From 1995 until 2000, he served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Halliburton, a Fortune 500 company and market leader in the energy sector.  Under Cheney's tenure, the number of Halliburton subsidiaries in offshore tax havens increased from 9 to 44.  As CEO of Halliburton, Cheney lobbied to lift U.S. sanctions against Iran and Libya, saying that unilateral moves to isolate countries damaged U.S. interests.  He also sat on the Board of Directors of Procter & Gamble, Union Pacific, and Electronic Data Systems. According to the CBC's the Fifth Estate ""During the election campaign Cheney tells ABC News. “I had a firm policy that we wouldn’t do anything in Iraq, even arrangements that were supposedly legal.”

However, during his time as CEO, Halliburton was selling millions of dollars to Iraq in supplies for its oil industry. The deals were done through old subsidiaries of Dresser Industries. It was done under the auspices of the corrupt UN Oil for Food Program."

In 1997, he, along with Donald Rumsfeld and others, founded the "Project for the New American Century," a think tank whose self-stated goal is to "promote American global leadership". He was also part of the board of advisers of the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA) before becoming Vice President.
